Turkish Angora are a fascinating ancient natural breed originating in Turkey. One of the most elegant breeds, and incredibly beautiful, the Turkish Angora are also very intelligent, athletic, mischievous and extremely affectionate. Even though they are one of the oldest breeds, they are considered a rare breed and featured on the rare breed website: http://rarecatbreeds.com/ We proudly work with lines from the original Turkish breeding program in Ankara Zoo.
We introduced the breed to New Zealand in 2008. The first registered Turkish Angora kittens in New Zealand were born in our cattery in 2009. Our cattery is registered with NZCF, TICA and CFA. We are currently the only Turkish Angora breeders in Australasia.
We like to see our cats placed in a safe indoor home, but we encourage that you build them a catio or train them to walk on a lead. White cats are prone to skin cancer so care has to be taken to avoid harsh NZ sun when UV rays are strong.
Our kittens come desexed (no exceptions sorry), with at least two vaccinations, microchipped, registered with TICA and/or NZCF, registered with Animal Register, with a 6 week complementary health insurance and a health guarantee. Our kittens are well socialized, raised in our home and handled a lot.
All of our breeding cats are DNA tested for diseases and none carry any genetic diseases as far as we are aware of. We are happy to show DNA tests of the parents. Our white breeding cats are tested for hearing to reduce chance of deaf kittens. The Turkish Angora are a healthy breed and we import a lot to ensure our cats have very high genetic diversity. As we are the only TA breeders in all of Australasia at the moment, we must import from either Europe or USA to ensure the health of the breed.
We can organise transport to your closest airport (transport cost is additional).
